“So will My word be which goes out of My mouth;
It will not return to Me void (useless, without result),
Without accomplishing what I desire,
And without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it.”

Isaiah 55:11 (AMP)

me, Barbara
Hi! I’m Barbara
It’s so good to meet you!

Welcome, friend!

When I first heard the Scripture above, it resonated with me for so many reasons. Here is proof, that God’s Word is more than just ink on a page! No Bible study, memorizing of verses, or reading His Word out loud, is ever wasted. We might not be able to see it in the moment, but over time, His Word will succeed in shaping our hearts and changing us from the inside out.

BUT, that can happen only if we actually STUDY the Word, “saturating ourselves” with it, so-to-speak. Which I know, is not easy! The Bible can be intimidating at times…after all, it’s chock full of seemingly boring historical accounts, difficult-to-understand concepts, and weird symbolism. And then again, it’s also chock full of priceless wisdom, instructions for life, comfort for hard times, and the truth of God’s great love for His people (that’s you!).

My friend, it’s SO WORTH IT to unlock all that God’s Word has to offer. It’s all at once, His love letter to us, His instruction manual for how we are to live, and so much more that words can’t describe.

If you feel unmotivated, ill-equipped, or intimidated about studying the Bible, you are NOT ALONE. I’ve been there, and I can tell you that it IS POSSIBLE to develop a greater love for, and understanding of, God’s Word.

My journey with Jesus began in 2005, but it wasn’t until about 2012 that I really made any effort to read the Bible on a daily basis. Then, in 2016, I started Bible journaling. And what a game-changer it’s been! Bible journaling gives me an excellent excuse to meditate on Scripture…and more than that, it helps me to document what I’m learning, so I can easily remember and refer back to it later. Through Bible journaling, I’ve truly fallen in love with God’s Word.

That’s what I want to share with you… creative tools to help you grow in your relationship with God! There is no better reason to create, than for the sake of connecting with God. Not to mention, loving our neighbors!

Here at Divine Creative Love, you’ll find spiritual encouragement, Bible journaling tutorials, prayer help, and crafts that enhance your walk with God and/or enable you to share His love with others. I also make hand-lettered Scripture art, because I believe it’s so beneficial to surround yourself (and, your family!) with God’s Word.

“Fix these words of mine in your hearts and minds; tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads.”
Deuteronomy 11:18 (NIV)

Bible Scripture art

Life Application Study Bible, NIV :: I have this on my Kindle, and love the practical applications and historical background it provides. Seriously, I hardly ever read a Bible that’s not a study Bible, since it’s so helpful to have notes and explanations for more complex passages.

The Case for Christ: A Journalist’s Personal Investigation of the Evidence for Jesus :: I read the student version of this book when I was in college, and still refer back to it sometimes. It’s fascinating how much evidence there is to support the Bible’s assertions about who Jesus was and what he did!

The Case for Faith: A Journalist Investigates the Toughest Objections to Christianity :: I can’t even tell you in words how much this book has bolstered my faith. Not to mention, it’s utterly fascinating! It clarified so many things for me, opened my eyes to things like how science actually supports faith in God, why bad things happen, and much more. Please consider reading this one!
