What a world we live in! It’s a beautiful world that God created… and also, unfortunately, a terrible world which we’ve screwed up 1,000 times over, and in which Satan has wreaked all kinds of havoc.

I’m sure you know exactly what I mean…

…every day seems to bring increased reports of violence, stronger hurricanes and other natural disasters, and just a lot of negativity.

Not to mention, all the troubles that take place within ourselves… aches and pains, financial difficulties, relationship struggles, sickness and death, etc.

In all these ups and downs, we need the peace of God that surpasses all understanding, to soothe our weary souls! At least, I sure do!

Just the other day, I was lamenting at all the ways I fall short, feeling like a failure, like why would God choose me for anything (much less provide me with eternal salvation)? And like the good Father He is, He led me to Isaiah 43, which begins by saying “I have called you by name, you are mine.” (Isaiah 43:1, NLT).

Needless to say, this brought me to tears… and reminded me of an important truth: God doesn’t love me because of anything I’ve done to deserve it; He loves me because that’s who HE is.

No matter where you’ve been or what kind of struggles you face, God loves you! And in His Word, there are so many wonderful Bible verses about peace and love that will speak to your situation, at exactly the time when you need to hear it.

Bible Verses About Peace of Mind

This is the foundation of true inner peace… the assurance we have, that God loves us, that Jesus gave His life to pay for our sins, and He is always with us! It’s the peace of God that we still have, no matter what else is going on in or around us. And these Bible verses about peace of mind are all about that blessed assurance.

8) Numbers 6:25-26 (NLT)

I will be joyful in God my Savior.

they comfort me.

16) Psalm 4:8 (NIV)

Bible Verses About Peace and Joy

Considering that joy and peace are the 2nd and 3rd fruits of the Spirit (see Galatians 5:22-23), it’s no wonder they’re often mentioned together in the Scriptures. Clearly, they go hand in hand… peace often brings joy, and vice versa. Notice in these Bible verses about peace and joy, how they are gifts from God… not something that comes from us, but from God’s Spirit…

17) Proverbs 12:20 (NIV)

Deceit is in the hearts of those who plot evil,

and be led forth in peace;
the mountains and hills
will burst into song before you,
and all the trees of the field
will clap their hands.

21) Psalm 94:19 (NIV)

your consolation brought me joy.

22) Zephaniah 3:17 (NIV)

He is a mighty savior.
He will take delight in you with gladness.
With his love, he will calm all your fears.
He will rejoice over you with joyful songs.”

Bible Verses About Keeping Peace With Others

And finally, since we have the peace of God—knowing all that He’s done for us, and how great His love for us truly is—we are also tasked with extending peace to others. Of course, this is not easy… like loving our enemies (Matthew 5:43-48), it doesn’t come naturally! But, as these Bible verses about keeping peace with others state, we should do it to the best of our ability.

23) Matthew 5:9 (NIV)

Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they will be called children of God.

24) James 3:17-18 (NIV)

But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere. Peacemakers who sow in peace reap a harvest of righteousness.

25) Romans 12:18 (NIV)

If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.

Make every effort to live in peace with everyone and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord.

27) 1 Peter 3:11 (NLT)

Turn away from evil and do good.
Search for peace, and work to maintain it.

28) Ephesians 4:1-3 (NIV)

As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.

29) 1 Thessalonians 5:15 (NIV)

Make sure that nobody pays back wrong for wrong, but always strive to do what is good for each other and for everyone else.

30) Colossians 3:12-15 (NIV)

Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.

There is something that I’ve noticed about these Scriptures on peace and healing… PEACE is not just something that we enjoy within ourselves. As a fruit of the Spirit, peace is also a gift we can give to others, to be a peacemaker and promote healing and unity in all our relationships.

I hope these Bible verses about peace of mind have helped you remember just how much God loves and cares for you, and that you can REST in His love. No matter what’s going in the world around you, the peace of God is always within reach! Please continue to seek Him, soak up many more verses about peace and rest, and “grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ” (2 Peter 3:18).
