Do you feel that you are fearfully and wonderfully made by God?

If you don’t, rest assured, you’re not alone! At some point in our lives, we all feel hopelessly broken, imperfect, or even ugly. Maybe you feel that way even now? The imperfections we’re born with, the failures of our aging bodies, or other shortcomings, can all negatively impact the way we feel about ourselves.

But, Psalm 139:14 says you ARE fearfully and wonderfully made! In spite of the imperfections of being a mortal being in a sinful, fallen world, YOU are wonderfully made in God’s image. His design for you is perfect, and it shows through in so many ways, in spite of what’s broken.

I praise you because am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.

Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it.

2 Ways to Use Bible Journaling Printables - Psalm 139:14 Bible Study

I’ve been pondering this concept of being ‘wonderfully made’ a lot lately. Health struggles make me feel like my body is hopelessly falling short, and it’s tempting to look only at what’s going wrong, instead of appreciating all the marvelous ways God made me!

Even when things are not perfect, if our heart still pumps blood through our veins, and our brains still think and communicate, and there is still breath in our lungs, there is reason to praise God! His original design for us is quite marvelous, and worth celebrating.

I had so much fun creating this Psalm 139:14 Bible journaling page! It’s about rejoicing in God’s marvelous creation: how He knew us even before we were born, and has every day of our lives laid out. Step-by-Step Instructions:

As always, I encourage you to customize your Psalm 139:14 Bible journaling page however you like! But, if you do want to follow the exact steps I did, here they are…

  1. First, cut out the “fearfully and wonderfully made” graphic, and position it behind your Bible page (use light tack tape to hold it in place). Then, trace the words with a pen of your choosing. (I used a Pigma Micron pen).
  2. Next, take your dancing girl printable (printed on sticker paper), and cut out around the girl. Peel away the backing, and stick in your desired spot on the page.
  3. Color your printables! You can use colored pencils (l like Prismacolor or Arteza) to color in the dancing girl graphic as I did, and then use a gel pen (like Pentel Slicci) to color in the “fearfully and wonderfully made” graphic. Or, you could use colored pencils for both!
  4. Highlight the portion of Psalm 139 that you want to emphasize, using colored pencils. You can highlight just verses 13-16 as I did, or less/more. You could also outline the passage with gel pens if desired.
  5. Finally, write down a few points that you want to remember about this verse! This last step is especially helpful, to ponder what this Scripture means for you right now, and to record those insights for future reference.
