✝️ 🕊️ ❤️ Welcome, friend! This is part two in a three-part series about faith, hope, and love… check out part one here: 30 Great Bible Verses About Faith, and part three here: 40 Meaningful Bible Verses About Love.

If you find yourself feeling hopeless, you are definitely not alone! We all feel that way from time to time… there are just so many seeming impossible situations in life, where all the options are exhausted, and there appears to be no way out.

For the diagnosis that leaves little hope for a cure, or the job market where it seems impossible to find work, or the loved one who seems too far gone (emotionally, spiritually, or mentally) to be helped… in such situations, it would be easy to give up hope. But, GOD!

The Bible tells us countless times that nothing is too hard for God; there is no limit to what He can do!

That means, whatever you may be feeling hopeless about, God can make a way even where there seems to be no way!

Of course, our Heavenly Father doesn’t always act in the way or time that we think He should. If you’ve ever had to wait a long time for something, you know as well as I do that God’s timing is different from ours—but it’s always good! And, quite often, the way He answers our prayers is not what we expected… but better! He knows what we need much better than we do.

Still, when you’re in the middle of a dark tunnel, where you can’t see the light at the end yet, it can be hard to keep up hope. That’s why it’s so important to lean on Scripture, and all the wonderful Bible verses about hope it contains.

Always, always, always, when life doesn’t make sense, when you need guidance, when you need to hear from God about your situation… OPEN. YOUR. BIBLE!

35 Encouraging Bible Verses About Hope

In researching these Bible verses about hope, I’m sure I missed some. In reality, there are probably 1,000 or so! But, these are the verses that stood out to me, as being some of the best and most memorable.

Keep in mind, that in addition to these verses, there are also many Bible stories that can inspire you to have hope. Joseph’s story is always my favorite… how he never lost hope in God, even as he was mistreated, sold into slavery, wrongfully convicted, and so on (you can read Joseph’s story in Genesis chapters 37, and 39-50). A few other stories you could explore also: Ruth, Hannah (1 Samuel chapter 1), and Daniel (specifically his potentially deadly encounter with a den of lions, in Daniel chapter 6).

Okay, now moving onto the verses… as you can see, I’ve arranged them into themes, so you can easily jump to a specific topic if you like:

Bible Verses About Hoping in the Lord

I hope you’ll agree with me, that no matter what our circumstances look like, we must always put our highest hope in the Lord! In pleasant times, it can be tempting to put too much stock in our success, blessings, etc… and in tough times, the temptation is there to become distant from God, hopeless, and/or discouraged.

These foundational Bible verses about life with God remind us, that all our hope comes from Him! He is our Creator, Provider, Protector, Savior, and so much more.

3) Hebrews 6:19-20 (NLT)

4) Romans 15:13 (NIV)

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

But I will keep on hoping for your help;
I will praise you more and more.

As these and many other Scriptures attest, we shouldn’t be surprised or dismayed when we go through hard times. Each one of us will experience these things at some time or another, and when we do, it’s important to be joyful in hope, keep praising the Lord, and look to Him for help! Bible Verses About Hope for the Future

In this life, when troubles seem never-ending, I find it so encouraging to think about my eternal future with God. Surely I’m not the only one who longs for a world without pain or suffering—where there is no more sin or hate or discord to come between us and God (or each other)?

If you too long for a more love- and peace-filled life, then I know you’ll enjoy these Bible verses about hope for the future! Let’s look forward, not only to the good things God will do here on earth, but even greater blessings in eternity.

24) 1 Peter 1:3-4 (NLT)

All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is by his great mercy that we have been born again, because God raised Jesus Christ from the dead. Now we live with great expectation, and we have a priceless inheritance—an inheritance that is kept in heaven for you, pure and undefiled, beyond the reach of change and decay.

25) Revelation 21:1-4 (NIV)

Then I saw “a new heaven and a new earth,” for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”

26) Titus 3:4-7 (NIV)

But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life.

27) Ephesians 1:18 (NLT)

I pray that your hearts will be flooded with light so that you can understand the confident hope he has given to those he called—his holy people who are his rich and glorious inheritance.

28) 1 Peter 1:13 (NIV)

Therefore, with minds that are alert and fully sober, set your hope on the grace to be brought to you when Jesus Christ is revealed at his coming.

29) 1 Corinthians 15:17-20 (NLT)

And if Christ has not been raised, then your faith is useless and you are still guilty of your sins. In that case, all who have died believing in Christ are lost! And if our hope in Christ is only for this life, we are more to be pitied than anyone in the world.
But in fact, Christ has been raised from the dead. He is the first of a great harvest of all who have died.

30) 1 Corinthians 2:9 (NLT)

“No eye has seen, no ear has heard,
and no mind has imagined
what God has prepared
for those who love him.”

31) Ephesians 3:20 (NLT)

Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.

Bible Verses About Sharing the Hope We Have

Last but not least, let’s not keep all this HOPE to ourselves. These Bible verses about hope and love stir us to share the good news of Jesus with others! Yes, I know this is not always easy… as someone who is introverted and shy, sharing my faith doesn’t always come naturally. But, it’s IMPORTANT, and it’s definitely something we all should do more of.

32) 1 Peter 3:15-16 (NIV)

But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander.

33) Colossians 1:4-5 (NLT)

For we have heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and your love for all of God’s people, which come from your confident hope of what God has reserved for you in heaven. You have had this expectation ever since you first heard the truth of the Good News.

34) Psalm 119:74 (NIV)

May those who fear you rejoice when they see me,
for I have put my hope in your word.

35) 2 Corinthians 5:18-21 (NIV)

All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God. God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

I pray these Bible verses about hope and strength in the Lord will give you a renewed confidence and great expectation, for all the ways God will work in your life! Even if you can’t see a thing, lean on Him, and trust that He is always leading you towards the light.
