Am I the only one who feels like Easter gets overshadowed by cute spring decor?

Lots of people celebrate Christmas with nativity scenes, angels, and paintings depicting baby Jesus in a manger… but at Easter, the bunnies and eggs seem to take over. And, let’s face it, Jesus’ crucifixion and resurrection is a bit more hard-core, so it’s not as ‘celebrated’ as the nativity story at Christmas.

Which to me, makes it all the more important to emphasize JESUS at Easter. I prefer to downplay (or eliminate!) the bunnies, eggs, and other cutesy Easter stuff that I once embraced as a child… as an adult, I want Easter to be all about the King of Kings.

Because I hope you’ll agree with me, that we don’t need any more worldly fluff in our lives. No, we need more JESUS! More reminders of the tremendous price He paid to save us from our sins. More reminders of God’s amazing grace. More reminders of the miracle of Christ’s resurrection, and the new abundant life we have in Him.

12 Christian Easter Craft Ideas for Adults

So, that was my goal in rounding up these amazing Christian Easter crafts for adults… to feature the most Christ-centered reminders of what Easter truly means for us as believers.

ALSO: These crafts are sophisticated enough for adults, but there are still a few that are simple enough you can do with kids too. So, if you’re one of those folks who enjoys crafting alongside your children or grandchildren, there are some great projects here for them too! Let’s dive in…

1) “Paid in Full” coin cross

Paid in Full coin cross from Mom on Timeout

This amazing Easter cross idea comes from Trish @ Mom on Timeout! Not only does it look very cool, but of course it’s symbolic of Jesus paying the price for our sins, which is a great reminder for us adults (and a good lesson for kids too). Plus, it only requires a few different items to make, some of which you may already have lying around your house.

2) He is Risen Easter Box

He is Risen Easter Box decor from Leap of Faith Crafting

Do you prefer a rugged look for your Easter decor? This “He is Risen” box definitely fits that aesthetic! Amy @ Leap of Faith Crafting used twigs, twine, and moss to create this rustic Easter scene, which celebrates Jesus’ resurrection. You could even take this look a step further, and get a “The Old Rugged Cross” hymn print to hang next to the box!

3) He is Risen Easter basket

Or maybe the rugged look is not your thing, and you prefer traditional pastel colors for your Christian Easter decor? If so, I’ve got you covered with this sweet Easter basket. I simply took this pastel-colored basket that I’ve had since I was a kid, added some pink crinkly paper and purple pipe cleaner crosses, and set it up with a simple “He is risen!” banner. Check out the whole tutorial HERE!

4) Easter Cross with decoupage

Next up in this list of Christian Easter crafts for adults, we have a simple cross idea from sisters Sonja & Jane of Sustain My Craft Habit. They took a dollar store cross, and turned it into a beautiful masterpiece! And, there are so many variations you could make with this idea, it would be a great group activity because each person can make theirs a little bit different.

5) He is Risen Easter banner

This Easter ‘craft’ is so easy, literally anyone can do it! Get the free printable from Leslea @ A Heart Filled Home, print and cut out the pieces, and string them up with twine, ribbon, or any string color of your choosing. You could even print the letters on colored cardstock, to make them stand out more. I’m envisioning this banner strung up on a fireplace mantel, with an empty tomb scene above it. Such a bold statement of what Easter is truly about!

6) Wood burned Easter cross

Are you into wood burning, or ever wanted to try it? If so, then this project from Jen @ Wood Craft Blueprint would be perfect for you! She burned music from the classic hymn “How Great Thou Art” onto this cross, but of course you could do this with other hymns too, like “The Old Rugged Cross” or “Amazing Grace”.

7) Easter basket makeover

Easter basket makeover from Leap of Faith Crafting

Another great Easter craft project from Amy @ Leap of Faith Crafting, this basket is easy to put together, and would make a great centerpiece for your Easter decor. It starts with a dollar store basket and some paint, and ends with a beautiful display. However, I would personally omit the eggs, and add something else more significant like these awesome names of Jesus rocks!

8) Easter resurrection garden

Easter resurrection garden craft from Sweet Makes Three

I know this is a list of Christian Easter crafts for adults, BUT this “resurrection garden” kids activity from Jenn @ Sweet T Makes Three is so clever! If you do have kids in your life, it’s a great teaching tool, but also, it looks so cool, I think it’s great for adults too. All you need are some basic gardening items, like a pot, soil, and seeds, to create this living picture of the empty tomb.

9) Easter word collage DIY kit

Easter word collage DIY craft kit from Little August Ranch

Do you prefer crafts that are ready-made kits, so all you have to do is paint and assemble? If that sounds like you, you’ll love this Easter word collage kit from Little August Ranch! They send you all the unfinished wood pieces, so you can paint or stain them however you like, and then assemble the collage to create your own unique Easter decor. What’s not to love?

10) Easter lily wreath

Have you ever tried making your own wreath to hang on your front door? They’re actually quite fun to make! And this wreath project from Evelyn @ My Turn for US is so simple, you can make it even if you’ve never done one before. All you need is the metal ring, flowers, cross, and some glue, to make a beautifully symbolic wreath.

11) Repurposed wood Easter cross

How clever is this repurposed Easter cross from Larissa @ Prodigal Pieces?! Such a cool idea. No need to make a special trip to the craft store; just use materials that you already have, to create a masterpiece. And it’s so significant, that just as God uses our broken pieces for something greater than ourselves, these odds and ends can be used to make a marvelous “He is Risen” centerpiece.

12) Easy music-inspired cross

Easy Easter cross with music by Prairie Girl to Southern Belle

And finally, check out this sweet music-inspired Christian Easter craft from Jessica of ‘Prairie Girl to Southern Belle’ (as shared on The Taylor House)! It’s a simple and fun decoupage project, with lots of creative possibilities. You can start with a favorite Easter-appropriate worship song, and then add distressing, words and art, and other embellishments as desired. (SIDE NOTE: If you print your own music for this project, just remember to print with water-resistant ink, such as with a laser printer or a pigment-based inkjet printer, so the ink won’t smudge when decoupage is applied).

I hope you’ve found lots of inspiration in these Christian Easter crafts for adults! Think of your crafting time as an opportunity to slow down, and reflect on the tremendous sacrifice Christ made in giving His life as a ransom for many (see Mark 10:45). Whether you’re creating décor for your home, gifts for loved ones, or keepsakes to deepen your faith, may these crafts be a wonderful reminder of God’s love and grace.
