There is a song I’ve been listening to a lot lately, called “Miracle” by Unspoken. It’s about the importance of continuing to pray, and not give up.
And how much we need to hear that! A few years ago, I was feeling pessimistic about prayer. I would ask God for things, and after seemingly no answer, I was unhappy with God and even questioning my faith.
Have you been there? Or maybe you’re in that place right now, still waiting on your miracle. I can totally relate.
For several years, I’ve prayed for healing for my chronic IBS and reflux problems, and also many other prayer requests for family and friends. And while I’ve seen some answers here and there, many of the really big requests I’m still waiting on.
The big difference between this year (2017) and previous ones, is that I’ve learned a lot about God’s timing and how He works. News flash of the century: God’s timing and ways are not ours! Something we want today, God says it’s not time yet, and we don’t receive that until next month (or year). And some things just are not aligned with God’s will, or maybe they come in a much different package than expected.
Pray Continually, Especially When God Hasn’t Answered Yet!
So, how to we keep the faith, and stay patient, while we’re waiting? By leaning on the promises of Scripture, and continuing to pray…
- Open your mind to God’s possibilities! He’s an awesome God, and can do so much more we can ask or imagine (Ephesians 3:20). So pray boldly, with faith that He will respond.
- Pray continually! Follow Jesus’ guidelines for prayer (in Matthew 6:5-14). I’ve found that when I pray acccording to His Word, humbly and with praise, repentance, and thanksgiving, I find myself much closer in relationship with Him, and also receive more peace and answers.
- Wait patiently and expectantly. Ask for more faith, more ability to trust, and for heaven’s sake, be persistent! (Check out the parables in Luke 11:5-13, and 18:1-8). And remember this: Your story is not over until it’s over. There have been numerous times when I wanted a prayer answered, say, within the hour, and was discouraged when minute :45 hits and no answer came. But then minute :59 came and God answered! Or maybe it didn’t come until the next morning, but it worked out just fine. Either way, just because you don’t get what you asked for WHEN you wanted it, doesn’t mean it won’t still come in God’s perfect timing.
As for me, I will keep on praying and praising Jesus every day. If there is any way I can pray for you, feel free to contact me or leave a comment below. ♥
