I might be biased, but I think crafts are AWESOME! My earliest memories of crafting were in Girl Scouts, and from my grandmother teaching me how to needlepoint. And I’m so grateful that my love of crafting has only grown since then!

Nowadays, many of my crafting endeavors center around my faith and relationship with God (like Bible journaling), and loving my neighbors (making handmade cards, and crafts to give as gifts). Not only is crafting fun and in some cases even therapeutic, but it can also be a great way to spend time with God and create things that help you keep your eyes on Jesus.

Even if you don’t consider yourself a “crafty” or “artistic” person, I guarantee there are still plenty of options for you! I mean, c’mon, if a child can finger paint, you can too. It’s all about finding Christian crafts for adults that match your interests and skill level.

And if you’re totally crafty and can’t wait to discover the next DIY religious craft project to dive into? I might just have some ideas for you!

20 Christian Craft Ideas for Adults

20 Christian Crafts for Adults

Some of these Christian craft ideas are super simple, and only require a few basic supplies… while others are a bit more advanced and may require additional supplies. There are even a few of these crafts that are available as a DIY kit, which provides you with everything you need to create the project (see #’s 8, 15, and 20).

1) Life of Jesus Bracelet

Christian Craft Idea for Adults - life of Jesus bracelet

I could think of no better way to kick off this list of Christian crafts for adults, than with a DIY bracelet representing the life of Jesus! This unique faith bracelet idea comes from Evelyn @ MyTurnforUS, and it’s so precious and full of symbolic meaning. The bracelet is based on a poem summarizing the life of Christ, with each bead representing a different event or season of His life walking among us on earth.

2) Prayer Pin Board

Christian craft project for adults - prayer pin board

This next Christian DIY craft is from Christi @ Sparkles of Sunshine… she came up with this sweet little prayer board idea, which is super easy to make and easy to customize too! There are so many ways you could make this project unique, just by changing the words, the color, or style.

And what a neat idea, for a family, church, or Christian workplace, to have a board where people can post prayer requests on the board and others can walk by and pick one to pray for. Or, you could make a prayer board to hang in your “war room” to write out your prayers and give them to God!

3) Painted Bejeweled Crosses

cross crafts for adults

This cross craft idea is from yours truly! Some years ago, I bought these wood crosses from Hobby Lobby, and thought “Wouldn’t it look amazing to paint them and then attach rhinestones for extra bling!?”. I even found some rhinestone cross stickers which I knew would work perfectly!

It’s really easy… all you do is paint a wood cross with acrylic paints, and then embellish with whatever rhinestone stickers you like. You don’t have to be a master painter—just do some abstract brush strokes in whatever way you like. The jewels add an extra special finishing touch, yet with very little effort on your part. 😉

4) Easy Fabric and Wood Cross

DIY Christian craft - fabric and wood crosses

Speaking of Christian cross craft ideas for adults, this one is so simple, and yet so elegant! The easy fabric-on-wood-cross idea from Danielle @ DIY Danielle is so easy to make, and yet offers so many opportunities for customization too. Depending on what wood and fabric options you choose, or even other embellishments you add, you can make something truly unique to give as a gift or use as decor in your home.

5) DIY Worry Jar

DIY Christian craft for adults - worry jar

Next up in our Christian craft ideas for adults, is this sweet little DIY worry jar from Sarah @ Must Have Mom. The end result of this craft jar is aimed at kids (teaching them to entrust their worries to God), BUT the craft itself is best for adults to make, and I really think a worry jar can be a helpful tool for everyone (not just kids).

Not to mention, you could turn this jar idea into many different crafts: Create a count-your-blessings jar, an encouragement jar to give a friend, or even a what-to-pray jar with different people or topics to intercede in prayer for. Lots of great ideas!

6) Marbled Resin Cross

DIY resin cross craft for adults

If there was ever a craft that I haven’t tried yet, but would love to someday, it’s resin! There are just so many cool things you can make with it, the only limit is your own creativity. And that’s definitely the case for this marbled resin cross craft from Myléne @ Mill Lane Studio.

A lot of resin crafts simply use molds to create a solid resin piece (like for a keychain)… however, for this cross, Myléne used a wood cross as a base, and covered it with resin and embellishments to create a truly unique piece! And of course, depending on what cross, colors, and embellishments you choose, your resin cross can be completely unique as well.

7) Pipe Cleaner Crosses

Jesus is risen craft

Up next, is a super simple cross craft idea that only takes ~3-5 minutes to make, and all you need is a pipe cleaner! This was the very first Christian craft idea for adults that I wrote, back when this blog was brand new. It’s so easy, kids can do it… but it’s also great for adults, and you can use hot glue to add embellisments to the cross if you like.

Once you get started making these little crosses, you can use them in countless different ways! String a ribbon through the top of one, to make a Christmas ornament. Or, nestle three crosses into an Easter basket to create your own “Jesus is risen” craft for an Easter decoration.

These pipe cleaner crosses would also make great womens ministry craft ideas, since they don’t require much supplies or expertise to make, and you could make a lot of them in a short amount of time (such as for putting in care packages, decorating the church for Easter, etc.).

8) Diamond dot paintings

Do you have an eye for detail? Enjoy getting lost in a meticulous craft project for hours? Diamond paintings are excellent craft ideas for adults who want a deeply meditative, detailed craft project to really ‘sink their teeth into’.

Each kit comes with a printed template that shows you exactly where each diamond color should go, along with all the diamond dots and other supplies you’ll need to complete the picture. It’s sort of like paint-by-numbers, except you’re ‘painting’ with tiny rhinestones!

➔ On Amazon, you can find many diamond painting Bible verse crafts for adults, like the Philippians 4:13 verse pictured above, or there’s also a nativity scene, pair of crosses, or this breathtaking resurrection painting.

9) Mosaic Cross

Christian crafts for adults - DIY moasic cross

Usually when I think of mosaics, I think of square or triangular pieces of glass, carefully arranged like a puzzle… But for this mosaic cross craft, Trista @ Tried and True by Trista used round glass pebbles and beads to create this unique decorative cross. Which seems easier and less intimidating that traditional mosaics! All you need is a wood cross, paint, hot glue, and some beautiful glass pebbles and beads, to make a special cross to display or give as a gift.

10) Nativity Shadow Box

nativity scene shadow box - God with us

Next on this list of Christian crafts for adults, is something to help you celebrate and honor the birth of Christ! This nativity shadow box is courtesy of yours truly. It’s fairly simple to make, and you can get as creative or elaborate as you want with it.

➔ You can get the full instructions here, but basically all you need is a shadow box, nativity silhouette, and some things to decorate the box with. I added gold star garland to the inside of the box, and adhesive vinyl on the front of the glass.

11) Inspirational Painted Rocks

painted rock with golden cross - RockPainting101.com

I know it might not sound like an adult Christian craft, but rock painting is not just for kids! Believe it or not, you can paint quite a masterpiece on a simple rock, even with oil paints if you like! Plus, they’re wonderful messengers of God’s love: Rocks with Bible verses or encouraging words can be left in your neighbors’ garden, or in a public park, or anywhere you can think of where people can find them.

Other cool ideas for painted rocks: Use a heavier one as a paperweight, give smaller ones away as Bible verse pocket pieces, or paint a really huge rock and set it in your flower bed or on your porch—so visitors to your home will be welcomed with an encouraging verse. Rocks truly can make great Christian DIY gifts!

➔ If this sounds like your kind of craft, check out RockPainting101.com for how to get started! And if you need some Christian art ideas for your rocks, try the nativity silhouette, or this calvary crosses scene.

12) Prayer Box

Christian prayer box craft

This sweet prayer box craft tutorial from Lára @ Mulberry Wind Acres is not only a wonderful faith-based craft project, but also a great introduction into the usefulness of prayer boxes. Lara provides a helpful overview of how best to make use of a prayer box, and then she shows you how to decorate your own wooden prayer box with patterned paper, mod podge, and other embellishments.

Like many of these Christian craft ideas for adults, there are so many ways you can customize this project to make it your own! There are not only many different patterned paper options, but you could also use fabric instead of paper, and of course the embellishments that you add make for a unique prayer box for yourself or giving as a gift to someone special.

13) Wire Hanger Flower Cross Wreath

Christian cross craft - flower cross wreath

This lovely flower cross wreath idea from Jessica @ Crafty Homeschool Mom is such a frugal and creative idea… she uses wire clothes hangers to create the form for this wreath! She also acquired a lot of the flowers from the Dollar Tree, proving that crafting doesn’t have to be expensive. I also love her suggestion to use this cross as the centerpiece for a “home worship center”, complete with Scripture, candles, and an open Bible on the table.

That being said, the sky’s the limit on what you could make with this cross wreath idea! Choose different types and colors of flowers, or even go with a theme for a holiday wreath, like lilies for Easter or poinsettias for Christmas.

14) Purpose-Driven Wood Pallet Sign

Called to Create sign

This is one of my favorite Christian crafts that I’ve ever made! It’s an awesome wood pallet sign, which hangs next to my craft desk and says “called to create”. But, you could make your sign say anything you like! For example: “God is love”, “Called to love”, “Created with a Purpose”, “walk by faith”, “pray without ceasing”, or pretty much anything you can fit onto the pallet board. I made mine with gold and rainbow painted letters on whitewashed board, but you can make yours with any colors you choose.

➔ Check out the original “Called to Create” tutorial here, to get a list of supplies and instructions for how to make one!

15) DIY Prayer Board Kits

16) 1 Corinthians 16:14 Laundry Room Sign

Christian laundry room sign craft

Who says laundry room decor has to be about laundry? Morgan @ My Pear Tree Home created this simple 1 Corinthians 16:14 “Let all you do be done in love” sign for her laundry room, with just wood and paint markers! Another proof that crafts don’t have to be expensive or complex, to still be meaningful and beautiful.

Of course, this 1 Corinthians 16:14 sign could go in any room of the house, and you could use the same concept to create a sign featuring a different Bible verse too. There is plenty of room for creativity, even with the simplest of crafts.

17) Vintage Hymn Page Wreath

Christian Hymn Page Wreath Craft

Are you loving the inexpensive yet fantastic craft ideas? If so, Christina @ The Frugal Homemaker has an idea you’ll really enjoy… This gorgeous hymn page wreath is made up almost entirely of hymn pages from a hymnal she purchased for just $1 at a thrift store! What a beautiful way to re-purpose pages from old hymnals, and give them new life.

I also love that this kind of hymn wreath could be a year-round wreath, OR you could add a centerpiece in the middle for different Christian holidays. For example, a cross in the center to make it an Easter wreath, or a small nativity in the center to make it a Christmas wreath.

18) Paper Hymnal Cross

Christian craft for adults - hymn cross

Speaking of creative ways to repurpose old hymnal pages, Debra @ The Home Spun Styling Co came up with this lovely cross idea made up of hymnal pages! The cross is very similar to the wreath above, but it’s smaller, thus requiring less pages, AND that also makes it an easier craft to make multiples of to give as gifts.

19) Changeable Burlap Lighted Glass Block

Christian craft idea - lighted glass block with changeable burlap

This is such a neat idea, y’all! Of all these Christian craft ideas for adults, this changeable burlap on a glass block idea might be the next one I try myself! Amy @ Leap of Faith Crafting has come up with this nifty concept… Instead of putting a vinyl design directly on the glass, and thus needing multiple glass blocks for different holidays or Bible verses, she pressed heat transfer vinyl onto burlap pieces, so then the burlap can be swapped out depending on the season!

20) Bible Verse Embroidery

Elly & Grace "blessed" embroidery kit

Finally, the last of our Christian craft ideas for adults is something fun and useful: embroidery! Elly & Grace makes these sweet embroidery kits, like the “blessed” kit pictured above; they come with ALL the supplies and instructions you need, so you can totally make it, even if you’re a beginner!

➔ BONUS: When you use the coupon code DIVINECREATIVELOVE you can get 10% off your entire Elly & Grace order! In addition to the embroidery kits, they also have Bible verse apparel and decor.

Just imagine what you could do with an embroidered piece like this… make it into a pillow, frame it, or even stitch your embroidery onto a tote bag or an apron.

Which of these Christian crafts will you make? I challenge you to think about what kind of Christian crafts for adults will help you grow in your faith, and enable you to share God’s love by giving the crafts as gifts or to charity.

Once you’ve decided on a craft project, all that’s left is to set aside some time for it, and enjoy the process of creating and sharing your creations. Happy crafting!

  1. It’s a nice post! Especially I like the cross. I was looking for some crosses for crafting and only could find small ones for necklaces, but your post helped. Thank you!
